Our Mighty Fortress

The children will create a classroom fortress to learn about God’s protection.

TOPICS:

God's Protection

MATERIALS:

Items to create a fortress: bed sheets, blankets, clothes pins, chairs, tables, flashlights, etc.

DURATION:

Approximately 10-15 minutes

PREPARATION:

Push the classroom furniture to the side to make a large, open space.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Invite the children to help you plan and create a “mighty fortress” from the materials (the fortress will essentially be a large tent). If desired, you may enjoy a small treat together inside the fortress.

Application:
Ask, “How do fortresses protect the people inside (by providing a barrier from incoming harm)?” “What’s the difference between human fortresses, like the one we created, and God’s ability to protect us (human fortresses can fail, but God’s ability to protect us is perfect)?” Explain to the class that God’s ability to protect us from evil is absolute, or without weakness. We simply need to draw near to Him to experience His protection.
