PREPARATION:
Print one handout for every six children. Then cut out each letter and use the tape to hide the letters throughout the room.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Write the word “REFUGE” on the whiteboard. Explain to the class that Psalm 91 tells us about God being our Refuge, or safe place, when we are in trouble. Then announce that the letters to the word “REFUGE” are hidden throughout the room and each child will find one of each letter. Once each letter to the word is found, each child will race to the table to put them in the correct order. Whoever finds the letters and spells the word first is the winner!
Application:
What makes you feel safe (family members, stuffed animals, pets, shelter, etc)? While God certainly gives us things to make us feel safe, we should remember to turn to Him as the best Refuge, or safe place, during times of trouble. He loves us, and will protect us better than anything (or anyone) else!
