Forgiveness in Jesus

Easter Sunday school craft. Children make an edible treat which represents how Jesus died on the cross to forgive the sins of all the people in the world.

TOPICS:

Cross, Easter, Forgiveness, Salvation

MATERIALS:

Cinnamon or plain Graham crackers
White frosting
Red licorice (Twizzlers®, Red Vines® etc.)
M&M’s®

DURATION:

Approximately 15 minutes

PREPARATION:

Use the instructions below to make one food craft before class to use as a sample.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Help the children spread frosting all over the graham cracker. Next, make a cross using the licorice candy by pushing it into the frosting. Then, let the children decorate the craft by sticking M&M's® into the frosting around the cross. (See example above.)

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

Easter is a celebration of Jesus. He gave up his life by dying on the cross to forgive our sins. Jesus also rose from the grave, and now He is sitting at the right hand of God. When we say we are sorry for the things we do that are wrong, Jesus forgives us. Because Jesus forgives us for the things we do that are wrong, we can be with God someday in Heaven. And, Jesus is able to forgive the wrong doings of everyone in the world.

These M&M's are like all of the children in the world that Jesus forgives. Jesus loves children so much that he is preparing a special place for them in Heaven. Let's put many children around the cross.

Note: A similar version of this craft is available for Grade school called Bread of Life
