Bulletin Board Idea: Growing
For Jesus |
| AS KIDS ARRIVE ( 10 minutes
) |
As children arrive ask them to sit on the floor in
front of you. Ask them the following questions:
1. What is your favorite toy? Do you take care of it? Why?
2. Would you rather have class in a nice clean room or a dirty junky
room? Why?
3. Should we take care of the things God has given us? Why?
Next, ask the kids ways in which they can take care of their toys,
the church and all of the wonderful things God has given to us. |

| BIBLE VERSE ( 7 minutes
) |
"The LORD is with
me; he is my helper." Psalm 118:7a
Explain to the children that God is with us and helps us in many different
ways. We may never know all the ways in which God helps us, but it
is comforting to know that our heavenly father loves us and helps
us each and everyday.

| BIBLE STORY ( 15
minutes ) |
God helps us grow in many different ways. One way God
helps us to grow is by giving us various jobs to do.
By doing the jobs God gives us we learn new skills. These skills can
be both physical and spiritual. for example when we help clean the
house we may learn how to use a vacuum but we are also learning that
is important to help other people.
Read Colossians 3:23-24 Discussion Questions:
1. When we work, should we always do our best job? Why? (Because
God sees the way in which we do our work)
2. If we do a job half heartedly men may not notice, but who would?
(God)
3. Is it important to do a good job on just the big jobs or on the
small jobs as well? (All our jobs big or small. whatever we do,
we should do it will all of our heart.)
4. Who do we serve? (The Lord Jesus)
5. Does God help us do our jobs? (Yes, He gives us our talents
& strength to do the jobs He gives us.) |

Start by praying to God and thanking Him for his loving
kindness and for helping us grow. After prayer time/snack time encourage
each of the children to help straighten up the classroom.
|
| CLOSING ACTIVITY |
As the children wait to be picked up, talk to them about
why it's important to do our best, even when no one else is watching.
As we grow God will give us many jobs to do, in fact you could say
God has "Big Plans" for us if we'll listen to Him. Go around
the room and ask the children what kind of jobs they can do at home
or even at church.
