Substitute Teacher Survival Pack
|
||||
| It's
early Sunday morning, the sun won't be rising for a couple more hours
and you've just been woken up by a bad case of the flu. Hopefully you
won't have to face this scenario very often, but when you do, it's comforting
to know that there are people willing to fill in as substitute
Sunday school teachers. In some cases, the absence of the regular Sunday school teacher may be planned ahead of time. In these instances, the sub will have adequate time to plan the lesson and/or obtain the needed materials from the regular teacher. |

| Unfortunately, sometimes the sub will not have adequate time to prepare for
the lesson; therefore, it is always a good idea to have a substitute teacher survival
pack prepared for each classroom. The survival pack should include enough age appropriate material to enable the substitute teacher to instruct the children for the entire length of the class. The first thing included in the package should be a short lesson outline. The first activity should be relatively easy, a page to color or a word search. This will keep the kids busy while the sub has a chance to review the rest of the lesson and prepare. You may want to include some or all of the items listed below in your substitute teachers survival pack: |
||||
Short
lesson outline Word searches Bible stories |
Children's Christian songs Bible based coloring pages Group games |
Simple crafts |
||
The
list of additional material you can add to your survival pack(s) is almost endless and
will most likely change over time. Remember the wise saying, "If you fail to plan,
you plan to fail." Take an hour or two and create a package that
both the children and the substitute teacher will appreciate. |
