What we learned:
Today, we learned the importance of living
a righteous life and how we must always allow God to lead us through
the difficult times we will encounter. When we trust in the Lord,
He will always help us through these difficulties, as he did for
Joseph, the husband of Mary. God chose Joseph to become Mary's husband
because he was a righteous man and a descendent
of King David. (Scripture used: Matthew 1:18-24)

Memory Verse:
"Therefore, as God's chosen people,
holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12 NIV
Continue to practice this verse several
times with your child during the week. Ask your child how he or she
can show these qualities this week at home, at school, and at church. |

Suggested Parent/Child Activity:
Read through the genealogy of Jesus as
found in the book of Matthew, chapter one. Then work on a family
tree of your own. Start with your child's grandparents, or great
grandparents, and work your way down to show all the family members
your child is familiar with. Compare this to the genealogy of Jesus,
and discuss how significant it is that the Bible contains this information.

Daily Prayer:
Father God, show me the way. Sometimes when
things are not going well, when I am alone in the dark, or afraid
of what might happen, I forget to call on You. Help me to remember
that You are always there, and I can trust in You. Thank You Lord
for helping me through the difficult times. Amen. |
