What is Goodness?

This Sunday school activity teaches children that God empowers us to live for Jesus each and every day.

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Children will be seated in semi-circle of chairs with whiteboard at the front. Explain that today we are going to learn about one of God’s attributes – His goodness.

Ask: What are some other words that mean the same thing as “good” or “goodness”?
(Either write on the whiteboard or have a volunteer write them on the whiteboard)

*Let the children come up with the words on their own.

1. Excellence
2. Morally good – “be good”
3. Benevolence – “being good to others”
4. That which is desirable

Ask: Which of these definitions do you think describes God? (Answer: mainly #1 & #4)
We are going to continue look at this during class so that we learn and know of God's true goodness.
